The thriller genre is by far my favorite of them all but I must admit I can sometimes be quite critical towards newer authors. That being said, I can say that Adam Steven Page has done a very admirable job with "A Victim of the Times" and I personally consider it to be a great new addition to the genre.
I find that more than often these kind of books are a 'hit' or 'miss' dependent entirely on how the protagonist is crafted. Jack Phoenix stood out to me in several ways throughout the read simpy because he is raw, dynamic, and has a blend of prominent strengths and flaws that contrast with eachother to ultimately create a character with a true sense of realism (and maybe even with some relatable traits). As well as this, the narration is top quality throughout the read and there were only a few minor parts that I felt could benefit from some more editing. Overall, I enjoyed the read and will be recommending it to a few close friends who share a passion for the genre.

I felt like the victim in this overly crime ridden city. So, after a few chapters gave it up. Put me on a downer.
Though it has a bit of a slow start to it, this is one novel that I can guarantee you're gonna want to stick with. With a prelude that instantly seizes your attention some readers may feel disappointed when the following pages seem to have nothing to do with the excitement that was promised in the prelude. It's plain to see however that each word has been expertly crafted and perfectly designed by the author. With a complex and well-developed main character Page tells his story remarkably well. Once the action starts the reader is thrown into the very thick of it and finds themselves dying to know what will come next and how Jack will deal with it all. This book is the perfect read for anyone who loves first person thrillers.
